An idiot abroad was good.

I watched it once. I really hated the 'idiot'-guy because of his constant whining.

You have to be familiar with the Ricky Gervais Podcasts/Show before you watch it. Karl Pilkington is a bit of an acquired taste.

watched the film adaptation of The Road after reading the book for the first time. they changed up the order of things, which kind of stunted the emotional impact of a few scenes, and a lot of the realy long drawn out awful "we are starving to death" scenes got compressed into like a minute, which was annoying, but otherwise, it was pretty good. i think i cried through the whole thing, though. christ almighty. bleak doesn't begin to describe it.

what did you think of the endings?

MiddleMen - starring luck wilson and giovoni ribisi , starts off trying to be like an internet porn version of the Social Network and then degenerates into a bad version of the movie Wonderland.

IF i could give any movie the label of 'frankenscript' it would have to be this movie. It literally felt like the studio had 2 movies in the que and decided to mashup the scripts together.

5/10

but yeah, one of the best book adaptations i've seen, i think. which doesn't REALLY say a lot.

anyways i just snagged "house," the 1977 japanese horror flick, not the show. i've heard... interesting things. looking forward to it.

nice on the GB2 shot!

has anyone seen any good flicks directed by atom egoyan? "the sweet hereafter" looks good, if starkly depressing.

I think his most recent film was chloe which was shit but its worth watching for the awesome lesbian action between Julianna Moore and Amanda Siegfried.

Splice, geh/10/. Seriously the bastards, they should have told me that they didn't have a budget and lacked a script.

Black Death - 8/10

Pretty good thriller/horror which losely deals with witchcraft and paganism during the time of the Black Death. Starring Boromir from LOTR! Enjoyed this...

I don't think the budget was the problem. It's the same guy who made Cube and he definitely had less money to spend there. But I didn't like Splice either. It started off pretty good actually but then it got silly as soon as things were getting humanoid.

the comparisons between 30 rock and community in this thread got me on a 30 rock spree.

love it.

Surie: She sounds smart. Is she a real doctor?

Kenneth: No, I think she's kind of like Dr. Pepper.

haven't seen much community but comparing it to 30rock seems wrong. 30rock is the best show on us tv still in production

they're really quite similar shows, same sort of comedic style. i just think community has a bit more heart than 30 rock. 30 rock has more jokes, though.

I dunno, 30 rock has this grating way of attempting to force dry humor at the same time as being endearing. Community does this to, and I think what you refer to as 'heart' I interpret as 'trying way too hard.' That being said, I still watch all of the Thursday night comedies, but I honestly feel that Parks and Recreation is the only show of the bunch that is worth watching. All the others seem to have to many in-jokes and self referential comedy.
