Does anyone else hope that they release another epic hour long ambience track?

No.

I mean, hell no.

i'd be down for an hour long track if it had progression. i honestly listened to about 1/2 of 6-36 and called it a day. but just think about if they made a drane2 style track that was an hour long...now that'd be something

I loved how with quadrange.ep they released a track a day... I got so excited every time I would see the next track up. Too bad they're not doing that again :(

how can you compare this to Analord? it's a completely different concept. one is about analog warmness and organic wizardry and one is futuristic spacetime-defying prog-electronic acid. come on now.

You're a completely different concept. :cerious:

I didn't say they were the same thing, they just share some acid qualities. They're different for sure i was just bringing up an example of what i was talking about. I'm sure not loving analord could be seen as an act of treason to a lot of people, and i do like it it just isn't exactly the most interesting thing to me.

Time to listen to the oversteps shows again to see if there's any elements of y7 goin on anywhere. :music:

haha i was kind of prodding you.. but i totally agree about the added aspects to acid.. almost subliminal stuff going on there.

i like the concept of making something distinctly 'acid' without using a 303. I think thats why slow-acid on Gescom's EP blew me away, it was more liquidy and acidic than any other acid made before it.

The title is rather interesting. Not just because of 'move often', but also when you consider the discography. Out of the main albums, every odd-numbered release up to Quaristice has had a reference to what number it is. Incunabula (1), Tri Repetae (3), LP5 (5), Draft 7.30 (7). Oversteps is the tenth album. 'Move of Ten' sounds like a reference to that fact. Blah blah blah.

y7 isn't bad. Reminds me of their more recent live sets with that 4/4, just nowhere near as intense or with the same pace. I think Oversteps is the best thing they did since Confield, so what the fuck do I know.

You're all freaking fanboys who can't admit Autechre has been going downhill for years. y7 is unimpressive as hell and you can't get over acid because you act as if Analord just came out. This is why I barely browse this forum, bunch of sdkasjbdgoasfh!

*orders CD on Bleep*

I think I've totally lost my faith in you. Also why would you preorder this if you hate Autechre so much?

i dont think even hauntingsoul wants that

Nope, 6-36 is amazing but I think another hour ambient piece would be too similar to 6-36. It might be nice in a few years just so long as there is plenty of other awesomeness coming with it.

Hey guys, I'm listening to 6-36 while spotting SFX for a film... best thing ever. And around 21 minutes there's some interesting things.... I mean it's not a COMPLETELY static track...

and Haunting Soul... back me up here please.

Yeah, this track actually has TONS of variation. Like any autechre track, it takes repeated listens to mine out all of the details but since this one is an hour long and slow-moving it ends up taking considerably longer to unravel. Make a point of tossing it on and listening all the way a bunch of times and eventually you'll start to see. It's fucking lush!

also: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M62_motorway (the song M62 is probably named for the highway in Northern England, as Ae are from Northern England)

i think your guess is better, but also a possibility:

There's more actually but they're less obvious which makes me wonder if they're coincidental. Amber is the 2nd light on traffic lights, I remember reading something about a "chiasm" or something having a reference to something crossing and if you put a cross through something it divides it in 4 (now that's REALLY a stretch), the first track on Confield is VI (roman numerals for 6) Scose Poise, Untilted has 8 letters. I don't think anyone figured out one for Quaristice.

anyone of you in tokyo on the 4th of june? a gig with ae, juan atkins and claude young sounds like it's going to be an interesting mix of classic detroit techno and autechno. i've got a feeling it's going to be a classic gig.

....dont forget the mighty Kettel :)

after 3 listens spread out over 2 days, y7 has grown on me. once i stopped comparing it to other autechre, or to other music with 4x4 pulse or acidy sounds, and just let it do its thing on its own terms and paid attention to what it was actually doing... 3rd times charmed
