whoa, that's quite the drop. I guess they're really underperforming. I'm almost tempted, but there isn't anything besides zelda I'd want to play on it.

edit: Oooo, new paper mario title. hmmmm...

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

And Mario Kart.

But I guess it's just like any other Nintendo console (be it handheld or not). There are only a few select titles you want to play. The rest is shit.

So yeah... I can see why people have been bitching about the controls. There are some obvious fucked up things about them. If you wanna rotate the camera vertically there are only two settings. Top view or a 35-45 degree angle view. You can't choose anything in between those two setting which is frustrating as hell, because the 35-45 degree angle view can be pretty useless from time to time because of the very mountainy landscape so every now and then a mountain will get in your way.

It seems like a pretty neat little game though but I'll won't buy it immediately.

Thanks for the update Squee - this sort of confirms my "will get but not right now" thoughts - Keen on "Limbo" though as a good m8 sent me a text last week telling me i HAD to get it.

Yeah, Limbo and Braid are Xbox Arcade essentials.

Truth. And when you want something a bit more hectic you should go for PacMan Championship Edition DX!

Heck yeah - still have to finish Braid (I know, I know, I'm lame) - sweet ass game thusfar but I got stuck on one of the levels and frustration took over.

Find myself more drawn to the games on Arcade these days than "full on" games - think the last one I got really excited/enjoyed was Dead Space 2 (which, indeed, was awesome). Seems like the puzzle/return to simplicity just seems a lot more palatable than rehashed FPS/RPG/Sandbox for 60 bucks.

Though - man, Arkham City is looking pretty ace, nes pa?

If any of you have been thinking about buying a Nintendo 3Ds then now is the time. Nintendo has just confirmed that they'll lower the price for the 3Ds from $249 to $169. I guess you can all thank Apple for that.

No, you can thank Nintendo's miscalculation that people would want 3D on a handheld. It simply doesn't work all that well.

On a more positive note, if you get the 3DS before the August 12 price drop, Nintendo will give you a bunch of eShop games free, including classic NES games and GBA games.

Still not worth it. I'll wait for PS Vita. Sony might have finally beaten Nintendo at the handheld market.

True, the 3D gimmick didn't seem to catch on to people but I don't think the Vita will catch the market's attention either. Apple's $1 games has changed the market....... I think?

The PSP dominates in Japan, so hopefully the momentum (and the desire to have a good Sony handheld in the States) will drive the Vita to success here and in Europe.

I think the Vita's sheer power, plus it's touchscreen and touchpad (not to mention the dual analog sticks) is what is going to attract people to it - another reason Nintendo lowered the price of the 3DS - it's the same price as the Vita will be - which would someone choose (barring they are not a Nintendo fan) - the near PS3 quality graphics of the Vita, or the near-DS-quality graphics of the 3DS? I think the fact Sony is going the route of offering games on card or download too will give them an advantage over Nintendo, and there's nothing to say all the App Store developers couldn't port their games over to the Vita since it's essentially the same hardware-wise (touchscreen, gyros, motion sensing). If Sony's smart, they'll figure out a way for the licensing fees to work out so they can offer cheap games next to big budget titles.

A correction about what I said above - if you bought a 3DS at the old price, if you register before August 12th, you get the 20 free eShop games - not the other way around. A small concession for those who shelled out the 250 bucks early on for the handheld expecting a decent flow of software (which seems to be the biggest problem the 3DS has right now).

I have to agree with Joyrex. The PSVita is gonna steal the show. I'm definitely getting one on launch.

Anyways, Borderlands GOTY was on my game shelf staring at me. I had been stuck at Bonehead for a while and lost interest. I decided to pick it back up and, stupid me, there were other quests I could do to level up and get new weapons so that I could stand a chance against him. So I went and did the other quests, then I fought Bonehead and won first try. So I'm back in the game now, and it's pretty cool. One thing I don't like is the long loading times. Then when the level finally does load, it takes a few seconds for the textures to load. Either than that, it's great.

i think nintendos failure is more based on the fact that the system is overpriced and there is only one game out for it thats worth playing (zelda)

they thought they could get away with releasing another shitpile like the wii but nope ppl have learned better

Regardless of how shitty the majority of the Wii's game library is, the Wii does have some great games (mostly, if not all Nintendo's properties). It was a commercial success, and did innovate in ways that are being improved on in the game industry (Kinect and Move would have not happened as soon as they did if it were not for Wii).

I think think Wii U will follow the path of the Wii and I dread it because I am so in love with Nintendo's series'. Zelda is forever my favorite gaming series and nothing will ever compare. Unfortunately every new console is getting worse and there is little incentive for me to buy them when they only release 10 good games in its lifetime.

Anyway~

Played this today after my brother brought it 2nd hand a few days ago. Such an obscure game I'm surprised we've found it not once, but TWICE now. My brother had it back when it came out in 2002 or so but traded it in later only to buy it again nearly 10 years later. lol. But seriously check it out.

Replayed Fallout 2. It wasn't as good as I remembered it. The best parts were the initial steps of trying to find any sort of firearm in Klamath, to dealing with the politics of the NCR, New Reno, Vault City and Broken Hills. After the Enclave shows up everything just falls apart: tirade of in-jokes and breaking the fourth wall, enemies either being too easy to kill or The Enclave one-shotting all of your guys, and micromanaging my party members continuously to make sure they don't mince each other with sub-machine guns. Having to also play it with a hint guide to find out if some weird event I ran into was an un-escapable bug or not wasn't fun either. After toying around with Fallout 3 and New Vegas, Fallout 2's combat is pretty horrid too. I have no idea how I was able to tolerate it in the past but it became a chore of waiting 5-6 minutes for everyone to take their turn. It was like battered wife syndrome: It's horrible and abusive, but you remember that there are good times too and that it must be your fault that things end up the way they do.

It's still a wonderful source for audio samples, though. :emotawesomepm9:

Nintendo's ex President lost half a billion dollars when their stock dropped 21% over the 3DS Price drop.

I think the end might be coming for Nintendo as a hardware manufacturer - I hope they go the route of Sega and make their wonderful games for other consoles.

Whats funny is I think all that the public wanted was a wii console that was the size of a wii fit so you could stand on it, and some sorta socks you can wear that would motion track your feet along with your hands.

Of course I would never buy such a thing even at gunpoint but Nintendo instead tried to appeal to the tech savvy (3ds) and hardcore (wii u) market which wasn't there core customer base at all.

Holy crap! That's a lot of money. But yeah, if Nintendo does quit the hardware scene, it'll be nice to play Mario or Zelda on my PS4.

bought an old Atari Lynx a couple of years ago with a load of games. forgot i had it then found it again recently, so have just got into playing that... for shits 'n giggles, and nostalgic reasons.

also, same as above but replace Atari Lynx with Sega Gamegear...

not a big gamer, never was, but love both of them. good memories. good times. - better than a Kindle (for wasting/passing the time), anyday! ;)

Just beaten Earthbound. The last boss battle was heart-wrenchingly great, definitely the highlight of the game.

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

earthbound is still the secondbest JRPG i've ever played (after chrono trigger). you should seek out the english fan-translation ROM of mother.

Yeah that was the second JRPG I've played and beaten on my HTC Desire (funnily enough the last being Chrono Trigger) and will start Final Fantasy VI next week. They make perfect games to play on my journey too and from work on the underground - Square is missing a trick not re-releasing their old RPGs on smartphones ....
