why is sneaking in to the Detroit Police Station (it being one of your first real missions) the hardest shit ever? I didn't talk the guy in to it at the desk..so I figured I would try to sneak in, which seemed a bit more fun any how. I don't have nearly enough Praxis points to make my hacking skill any higher, and everything in there is like lvl 3 security. I am tranquilizing as many people as I can and hiding bodies in vents etc, but there are soooo many cops, and getting to the morgue is insane. I went the fire escape route to sneak in, btw.. not the sewers. FFFFFFUUUUUU. The load screens take forever too.

If you're going sneaky, you really have to upgrade hacking with your first few points, then grab the invisibility and double takedown, makes the game super easy. If you go through the sewers, it puts you one room away from the morgue, and there's only one cop who will stop by in that locker room you enter in. I actually found the sewer entrance by accident, too, just dicking around.

Also, take the punch through walls augment super quickly; you'll find praxis points hidden behind some breakable walls (Which are automatically highlighted when you have the augment)... there are 2 in the Detroit sewers.

Thanks for the advice - think i may actually go back to an earlier save as I'm routinely getting my ass handed to me - spent my upgrades on jump (good investment) and "quiet running" which has been of limited use (thusfar) plus punch through walls (somewhat useful) and basic stealth radar upgrade (meh?). Seems like, at the beginning of the game at any rate, choosing the "right" augments are key unless you want to get super frustrated. Which is where I am with the game right now. Spent an hour yesterday on the same room trying all sorts of different tactics but a)all terminals too high of security for me to hack b)not enough ammo/space in my suit for ammo c)just too many guards/cameras/mechs to get by without setting off an alarm

Quiet running, The recoil augs and upgraded radar are useless, and jump, while useful, is better taken after getting invisibility. Lift heavy objects and inventory upgrades, I took fairly early. Helped a lot.

Make sure you hack everything/explore everywhere. You get exp bonuses for funding hidden or hard to find place, and I've gotten two it three praxis points just from hacking exp. Also, nonlethal gives almost twice the exp of lethal kills.... and is quieter. Don't keep more than two guns on you, maybe three with an inventory upgrade, use your melee takedown move and be patient and you'll never be low on ammo :)

diablo 3 looks amazing. also cannot wait for the portal 2 dlc, also i can't for a few new things. Like the HD remake of RE4, HD remake of ico / sotc, HD remake of metal gear 2 3 peacewalker, new ass creed, hd remake of god of war psp games, whatever else comes out like the last guardian(most anticipated).

I'm currently playing "find a game on the mac app store that isn't about fruit or birds and that I might enjoy for more than seven seconds"

DOOM REMAKE ... ?!

is it really? what's so good about it? i've downloaded it but haven't bothered to install it yet because tbh it looks a bit bland and (for some reason) buggy.

Finally got my internet sorted so been playing Reach again. Galaxy 2 on the wii when I need a break from that. I also got a bunch of Genesis roms recently been playing through some of those Castlevania games they had on that like Bloodlines. Was considering homebrewing my wii but it seems confusing and I don't want to brick it.

It's a bit buggy. I've seen a load of clipping issues, shitty LOD, some quest bugs. But I've had no crashes and the framerate is stable so it's not as bad as the media make it sound. Characters and story are bland, but the island itself is quite pretty.

If smashing and slicing up zombies in an open world sounds fun to you, you might find it enjoyable. I'm really enjoying the visceral combat. It's quite fun to cut off limbs and smash in heads. It's a bit too easy though. I'm playing it on my own and haven't really been challenged yet. But despite all the problems, I am having fun.

DOOM REMAKE ... ?!

I haven't heard anything about a Doom remake. Sounds like a stupid rumour.

Dead Island.

Unpolished is the perfect description. Movement is really, really sluggish, graphical glitches galore, tons of minor bugs (sidequests won't turn in properly, weapons disappear...). There's supposed to be some major patch soon that fixes most issues, or so I've heard.

Otherwise, it's fun. Run around hacking up zombies L4D style, on a semi-open-world island setting. Weapons break after killing two or three zombies, which is way too fast, but you can take them to workbenches to upgrade/repair them (for a ton of money), and there are pipes/knives/hammers/planks everywhere. Fighting more than two zombies at a time will almost certainly end in death unless well-equipped. Killing them, however, is extremely satisfying. Limbs break, heads explode, and if you kick them into pools, zombies drown. Character skill trees are full of minor upgrades and useless abilities, so a lot of points will unfortunately be wasted here, but the characters' special moves are generally quite fun. Story is bland (typical zombie game/movie story) and voice acting is sub-par. The game is absolutely gorgeous. The island is huge, the views from the cliffs are fantastic, textures re usually great, there's foliage and bodies and stuff everywhere, and the game never lags or pauses. Not worth the $60 price tag, but if you can pick it up for $45 somewhere, go for it.

I did start playing Deus Ex reasonably stealthily. Entered the bizzies via the ladders after the sewer lock told me FU. Tranq'd and vented a few people but something happened. I don't know why, but I pulled a 187 on every dumb AI cop in the place. I exited back down the ladders, walked to the front of the police station and nobody cared. Enter. Exit. Shot to death. I wonder if not being able to go in the police station will cause me any problems later?

The game is neither a sequel to Doom 3 nor a reboot of the franchise.

There are suggestions that, like Doom 2, it will take place on Earth, and will feature gameplay more akin to the original Doom games rather than the horror styled gameplay of Doom 3.

Doom 4 will look three times better than Rage does, as it runs at 30 frames per second, on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, rather than 60 that Rage targets.
