I've arrived at the opinion that it's basically a Cosmogramma Lite

I don't feel that way. Though I'm not a big FlyLo fan, I feel something new and refreshing in the laid-back atmosphere. Some kind of trippy weirdness, he hasn't used before. Hard to put into words anyway.

I've been listening to this on the way to work/at lunch/after work almost every day this week. It's definitely a grower but it flows real nicely and I get a bit lost in it (in both a good way and bad). Putty Boy Strut is definitely the stand out and a good idea for the first single.

The more I listen to this the more it sounds like having the iradelphic effect... You know, a hand full of nothing?

Maybe I can't feel it anymore

again, i don't really hate skrillex as much as i hate the people that think that sort of music has any sort of integrity. i try to be open minded, and a lot of the time i employ a "well, each to his/her own" attitude towards personal preferences such as music taste and who knows, maybe it is original in its own way, sorta like a drawing by an autistic kid.

Only gave it one listen, wasnt blown away. But I needed time to get into Cosmogramma too, took me a full year to actually come back to it and appreciate.

Will give several more listens.

Man I feel like the only standout tracks are All In, Getting There (which would be better without the vocals, or a better singer), and The Nightcaller. Bummer. I kinda had a feeling the album wasn't going to be "it" though.

I think yr doing it wrong, have you tried flying with Thundercat to pattern grid world on DMT ?

ha. no. thundercat is horrible imo.

i have tried several times with this album, i am finding it very boring and not transcendental like others. i have given it several shots.

i will come back to it in a few months and see if anything changes. it just feels very slapped together to me. i was hoping for a big epic album that cosmogramma hinted at, not a piece meal thing that feels like old tracks, cosmo b-sides and some new noodling with old beats.

i haven't really listened to it yet. but jeez are all the previously excellent electronic musicians just turning into shite? guess it doesn't matter because a crop of fascinating new ones are coming. but still. wtf

Look y'all, if you have any sense, don't go off of the opinions of watmmers..... Aka some stingy mufukkaz who are quick to say this sucks cus it sounds too little or too much like previous shit

We are the shittiest most stubborn critics of the Internet

I've found our opinions to be right on and dead wrong, and I learned the hard way listening to this forum that I shouldn't take anything as expert advice. Just a little nug

Btw I like (so far).....

Local record shop is getting ONE vinyl copy tomorrow, no reserve, first come basis, wtf

you are a biscuit fan aren't you?

I dig it so far, his best is still Los Angeles IMO, but I kinda like this one, the more laid-back vibe is nice and the album has a pretty consistent flow. I don't think it's fair to call it Cosmogramma Light.. it's not trying to be, it's definitely a less-busy approach, that I kinda prefer to some of the tracks on Cosmogramma.

Naw holmes just open minded

Got this in the mail today and just had my first listen... definitely a bit different than I was expecting, but I liked it. It'll need some more time for sure. The last few tracks sure were beautiful!

Yeah, it's not like wham-in-your-face-kickassMcRadical like Cosmogramma but it's far from a crushing disappointment. Highly enjoyable, just not classic. I also have no problem with Thundercat.
