did i miss us talking about the PSN hacking thing? i got my details stolen and cancelled my credit card etc.

now they are offering 2 free games as a sorry gift.

dead nation was in the list, infamous too

not sure i can ever buy from them again though. maybe there is a way of buying without entering cc

playing through la noire still and been back playing gta IV trying to finish it off

I can see where the "2D Minecraft" comparisons come from, but beyond a few game mechanics they're very different. It's less about building than it is about exploring, adventuring, and beating the hell out of monsters. More focused and fun than Minecraft for my money, and definitely worth £6 of yours.

Go buy a prepaid PSN card, in either 20 or 50 amounts - that's what I'm doing from now on.

so i just acquired a 42" lcd hd tv and i'll be hooking up the 360 to it.

i'm looking for games that will make me go ooh and ahh but are still very good. i don't buy many games and the ones i do buy, i play forever.

i'm trying to expand my taste but i really enjoyed GTA, dragon age 1, halo 3 (because of vehicles), borderlands and i play madden obsessively. i'm also a big fan of 100% of PC games made by blizzard

recommendations?

edit - game doesn't have to be new, in fact i'd prefer titles a year old or older

Red Dead Redemption...without a doubt. maybe not as nice as others...but the ambiance just makes you feel 100% into it...its a great game.

Red Dead Redemption is one of the best games I've ever played so yeah, you should definitely get your hands on that.

if its like the ps3 version it should only be around 30 bucks now too...so you could pick up that and the undead nightmare expansion for 50 total...i think?

i havent played undead nightmare though so i dunno if thats as much fun

Undead Nightmare can be bought online for 800 MS points which is about $10. It's a great expansion and even though it's kind of a silly add on it'll still make you panic when you all of a sudden are attacked by 20 zombies.

TL;DR:

Tell your mate to wait for a price drop. Worth $40, but not $60.

It's basically a faster Gears of War with elves and magic and bows instead of burly oversized men. The elf girl is a typical ranged character and the human guy is the hack and slash guy, though both characters have ranged and short range weapons. Fun game by all rights, if not very original in terms of story. The two characters' banter is quite good, and the game is geared for co-op, though it's just as fun single player. Graphics are extremely dark for some reason; I had to turn the game's brightness wayyy up and wash out the colours in order to fucking see, cuz it feels like most of the game was painted with the same damned variations of charcoal as Gears (with the exception of the forests).

There is very little in terms of levelling, loot or exploration and the game is only a dungeon crawler in the sense that you will travel through a bunch of dark underground/ruins type places; it's an almost on-rails 3rd person shooter wrapped in fantasy with a very limited weapon/loot selection and almost no skills/character growth.

Oh, also it has been confirmed that metal gear solid 2, 3, and peace walker will be re-released in HD for ps3 and xbox360 this november. Zone of the enders HD collection will be released in 2012, and shadow of the colossus/Ico HD collections have been confirmed for september(in japan).

And Silent Hill (2&3) as well! Bluepoint Games (the team that did the GoW Collection) is doing almost all of these - they found a niche industry, and they're good at it!

Japan's getting raped on the Ico Collection pricing - 50USD each, or 87USD in a bundle - we'll probably end up paying 30-40 for the collection once it comes here

i tried logging into the PSN store to get my free shit...it worked the first time and let me get my PSN Plus subscribe...but now it keeps coming up with "An error has occurred-80710D36"....WTF WTF how do i fix this? seriously..everyone else seems to not have a problem....

agreed. i strayed from getting it initially because of all the bugs...but with the new patches...it runs fine...and its a hell of a lot more entertaining then FO3...though that in of itself is a great game.
